Barbara D’Amora
Co-chair

Barbara D’Amora is Co-Chair of the capital campaign and a board member at CrimsonRise. She worked with spellers to co-found CrimsonRise. Barbara, along with her son Nicholas D’Amora have been champions of communication access, presenting and speaking to multiple audiences in education, first responders, and the Autistic service community. Barbara is a founding member of The GRACE Foundation of NY, a 501(c)(3) organization serving the autism community over 20 years. She remains a current and active member of its Board of Directors. She has been the recipient of several awards and honors from World of Women, Soroptimist International of Staten Island, and The GRACE Foundation of NY. Barbara is a Registered S2C practitioner. For the past 30 years, she has worked as a Special Education Teacher with the NYC public school system and The Early Intervention Program, and as a Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) both in the home and in school settings.

Lenore Puleo
Co-chair

Lenore F. Puleo is the Co-Chair of this capital campaign and an Advisor to CrimsonRise. She is a retired Executive Vice President at KeySpan. A summa cum laude graduate from Pace University with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree, she is also a Certified Management Accountant. She served on the Board of Staten Island Bancorp as chairman of its Compensation Committee, and as an Audit Committee member. She has served on the Board of Snug Harbor Cultural Center, and participated in the Young Adult Institute Business Advisory Council to secure employment for persons with disabilities. She also served on the Board of Directors, United Way of NYC, and was a founder of their initiative “Women United In Philanthropy”. She served on the Board of Trustees for The Eden II Programs for Autistic Children & Adults for several years and was Chair for four years. She is Treasurer of The Staten Island Foundation and has been a Board Member since 2009. Mrs. Puleo also offers motivational speaking services to nonprofit organizations, gratis. Lenore lives with her husband, Frank, and son, Cristofer, a co-founder, in Staten Island.

Communication access is provided through the use of Spelling to Communicate (S2C). S2C is a method that teaches the purposeful motor to point to letters on a letter board or keyboard to enable people without speech to communicate.
